The Leapfrog Bolt (PRO) has two printheads, which offers the possibility of printing in different modes.

1. Normal

Single extruder
  • One or multiple models, printed with 1 printhead
  • Single printhead = single material

Dual extruder
  • One or multiple models, printed with 2 printheads sequentially.
  • sequentially means that the printhead take turns in which they are active. So in practice only 1 printhead is printing at a given time.
  • Dual printhead = dual material
  • Your model out of Material A with Right extruder (1), and support out of material B with Left extruder (2)?
    • Enable both extruder. Both extruders can now be used for this process. Now, its time to assign these extruders correctly., in the “settings” tab , enable support ” and choose “. Left Extruder (2)”. In this example the left extruder will be printing the support material. Then for the model, you choose the  “Right Extruder (1)” The actual model (hence layers & infill) will be printed with the right extruder.
  • Your model made out of two different colors / materials?
    • Each color / material needs to have their own STL. Also these models need to be aligned correctly so they have the correct fit. Be sure to choose the correct extruders, for the desired body parts.

2. Sync mode

  • The left and right printhead print the same model(s) simultaneously
  • The preparation in Cura, is quite similar to preparing a print for “Single Extruder” because: Single printhead = single material
  • Support material has to be same material as model since right extruder is already busy copying the left extruder
  • In Cura  choose the “Left extruder only (2) ” for all models. Disable the right extruder
  • Align your model on the left halve of the X-axis in the build volume. In case you prefer to use a template STL, to show you the available build space, please find Template sync buildspace Leapfrog Bolt PRO V7.stl attached.

3. Mirror mode

  • The right printhead mirrors the model. model(s) printed simultaneously
  • The preparation in simplify3d, is quite similar to preparing a print for “Single Extruder” because: Single printhead = single material
  • Support material has to be same material as model since right extruder is already busy copying (mirroring) the left extruder
  • In Cura  choose the “Left extruder only (2) ” for all models. Disable the right extruder
  • Align your model on the left halve of the X-axis in the build volume. In case you prefer to use a template STL, to show you the available build space, please find Template mirror buildspace Leapfrog Bolt PRO V7.stl attached.
