Extruder grinding and wandering

I am hoping someone can help me. The gremlins are holding my printer hostage.

I recently completed a print and when I tried to start another I got this grinding noise on the x-axis as the extruder was moving from left to right, simutaneously back to front or vice versa. When it travels on the y-axis (eg. front to back) without the extruder moving- no problem.

The other problem is when the grinding started I cannot get the extruder to print properly. It starts wandering off into the distance and does its own thing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have:

1.Lubricated all the travel arms and cleaned them.

2. Replaced the motor on the x axis.

Still nothing.

Thanks very much.

Something is seriously WRONG; and DO NOT run the printer!  Any time a machine makes a GRINDING loud noise like that - it is very bad to continue to run...  I would think your machine is still under Warranty.  Even if not - Either Way - Please Contact Tech Support asap...  If tech support is trying to help you by replacing the motor - well and good.  But that didn't work... probably need to ship it back to leapfrog for them to repair.
